WITHOUT PREJUDICE

The Board of Directors has received information that members are meeting one on one.  This is not to be permitted.  Only approved members are permitted to meet in groups of 10 or more.  Members must stay inside their locked units until otherwise instructed.

Previous notices stated that drinking and drugging in laneways are prohibited.  That was incorrect. As the co-op does not have laneways, groups of 10 or more may proceed as usual.

Failure to comply with the above instructions will result in members receiving Notices to Appear before the Board of Directors to explain their actions.

THIS IS THE LAST WARNING!

  1. Oh geez, it looks like your implying that the board of directors have imposed Martial Law at the Co-op. Is that a new board policy or new or amended Co-op by-law? HA Ha...

Some sense of humor should be mandatory in dealing with all the nonsense at these type of Co-op PROJECTS!!!

    1. Yeah, I found it was the only way I could approach the double standards and basically the whole way this co-op is going.

Yes, but when should the sense of humour morph into desired rage and action against such idiocy?

You can only keep laughing at them for so long before you either have to put them in their place or put them out of their misery.

    1. I've always wondered how low can the co-op go and when I think it has hit rock bottom, it keeps getting lower. The control mechanisms many of us are confronted with in the co-op are meant to enrage, because that way it looks like we need to be controlled even more. It would be nice to stay above it all, but the controls are meant to pull you down, break members, if you will.

      Thanks for your comments.

  3. Take your thoughts away from "desired rage" that will accomplish nothing good or useful for you, and its just not healthy!

You should learn to follow your CHIE and Ken's Site that shares some information, humour, discredit your advisaries and give them 'the bussness'as the old saying goes...

Follow your CHIE, its easy as one, two, three:

    1. Ken:

First off, I came across your blog last fall or so and got lots of really useful info so I thank you for that --- esp the legal cases. Do find that "new CHIE" site is harder to navigate and posts aren't dated. Still, I'll keep checking.

As for humour, I agree that it's important. God knows, I've laughed at a lot of things that gone on here. Eventually tho,it wears thin. No probs about discrediting them --- even if almost all other Members don't want to understand what needs fixing.

  4. Sorry, this is off topic but you might find this interesting.

This week, those of us in subsidized units here got annual income verification form to complete. That included copy of drug card and letter from worker saying that our shelter allowance can meet rent and utilities.

Well, thanks to your older post about your battle about drug card and Privacy Commish, I now know they can't ask for that.

As to the 2nd request, I have no idea why they want this and more importantly whether they can force us to to get such letter. I somehow doubt it. Shelter allowance is fixed by province. If our rent is higher, we pay the balance. If we pay utilities, it's up to us to pay the bills out of our personal amts. We all know that.

Form they want us to complete is a few yrs old (just before your ruling) but that doesn't absolve our manager. You said (suggested?) in your post that both CHF and CHASEO were made aware of Priv Commish's ruling. Yet it appears message wasn't delivered strongly enough to all Co-ops.Or they figure they can keep doing it because average Member knows nothing about it.

No reason I can see (w/o going into specifics) our mgr didn't know this. All co-ops mgrs are well connected in sectors. Guess it's time to have chat with officials at City about all this as we're under their jurisdiction.

    1. What a strange request to ask for a letter from your worker saying that your shelter allowance can meet your rent and utilities. Many members in here, including us when we were on ODSP, tried to get the co-op time and time again to allow for the true costs of our utilities. This could work in your favour if you submit your utility bills to ODSP and they in turn incorporate the true costs into your shelter components.

  5. The way this place is being managed is detrimental to one's well-being. Members are completely stressed out. I've always worked with my hands in artistic endeavours - beading, antique lamp making, quilting, knitting, but this darn tendinitis in my shoulder is limiting me in that way. Writing, of course, can be creative, but not as soothing as wholesome crafts. The co-op story has to be told though and I plod on. I will see you on your website. Thanks again.

    1. Keep doing what soothes you. Wish I had some other hobbies tho besides writing and being self-appointed watchdog.
