The Parting Shot

Sure enough the parting shot came today. The Office Co-ordinator sent us a letter ordering us to move into the unit with the leaky basement and enclosing the report of the 'expert' who inspected the basement. The expert did not mention 'water' clearly evidenced in the photos we sent him, but merely that the paint was bubbling exposing some efflorescence. He stated that the previous tenant had been there for 6 years and had not reported water leakage. The members lived there for approx. 18 months. If the leaks are not 'current', pray tell when did they first appear? The unit had been unoccupied for 6 months when we viewed it, including the rainiest month on record - last July. The co-op knew darn well that the basement had active leaks and they were waiting for it to dry out before they tried to foist it on us.

We notified the 'expert' that we are not satisfied with his report. That he willfully manipulated the facts and omitted others with complete disregard to the photos we sent him. We will contact the co-op's insurance company and our insurance company to apprise them of the situation. We are seeking a firm commitment from the co-op's insurance company to pay for damages to our belongings and health related problems as this will occur.

The Office Co-ordinator said that the Board 'will try to muster up volunteer support to assist you in keeping with the Co-op spirit'. This is so insulting and done, of course, on purpose. The Office Co-ordinator is a 'player'.
