The Line

The co-op's newsletter slogan:

We look forward to working with all of you to make [Co-op] the most sought after place to live!

Visually, our co-op is a run-down, bug infested, garbage strewn slum.  Our co-op has a notorious managerial reputation, enough to make a housing counsellor's eyes roll in disgust. So, if people like to be controlled, talked down to, or yelled at, then this co-op is for them.

Our co-op, over the years, has been home to many co-op sector employees, whose lucrative salaries allowed them to up and buy their own homesWe have been (and are) vital to the co-op industry.

  1. I would think that all co-ops engage in similar spin about their complexes. After all, the myth has to be maintained that nothing is ever wrong with Co-ops.

As for being controlled, yelled at, put down --- well, again that unfortunately doesn't seem to be the exception. Mind you, those tactics only work if Members allow them to work. Tho I recognize for various reasons that can be hard to fight against --- fear of recrimination goes a long way in silencing people.

As for those who profit off the sector, don't get me going. I wonder tho, what happened to the idealist socialist principles they all seemed to once have --- to help everyone and make Co-ops inclusive. Somehow, Lord Acton's phrase (and many others) come to mind.

PS: I wasn't ignoring you --- been distracted by other stuff lately.
