Treasures in Waiting

So there I was about to cross the parking lot to go into the shopping centre, when I spied a shiny penny right in the middle of the road. Gleefully, I bent down to pick it up - a trait of mine since childhood. I seem to recall a motorist who had stopped to let me go by call out something, but everything happened so quickly. I'm sure he was trying to alert me to the fact that the car parked in front of me was rolling backwards. I wasn't conscious of a motor running, or of the woman driving backwards. Suddenly the woman braked and popped her head out the window and apologized profusely. She said she hadn't seen me. I insisted that it was my fault and I apologized to her - all the while holding up my bright, shiny penny.

She asked me if I could recall a certain saying about pennies. I offered 'A Penny Saved is a Penny Earned'. Perhaps she was thinking of 'A Fool and His Money are Soon Parted'.

Could the coin though, in these circumstances, be construed as my lucky penny?
