The Walk

Me:
Do you remember when we used to talk about our dream home?

Hubby (B):
In the South of France?

Me:
Yeah - we'd stroll through the village. You'd have French bread tucked under one arm. You'd be wearing a beret and walking a dog. I'd carry the Camembert cheese, wine and a newspaper.

B:
And we'd have a nice vineyard out back.

Me:
Funny, because we don't really speak French. But you know, now I'd like to have a nice home in the woods in B.C. I'd like a big airy house with wide wooden floor boards, wooden ceiling beams and a big stone fireplace. It's got to be big, but cozy. Beautiful oriental carpets - the dog could curl up in front of the fireplace. I want a nice, big modern kitchen.

B:
You don't want a country kitchen?

Me:
Nope - it has to be modern with lots of counter space, amazing cupboards and nice linoleum. I don't want ceramic.

B:
I'd like a sunroom and an orchard out back.

Me:
I want to have a big, bright, modern laundry room too. Oh, and it's got to have a river in front. I'd rather the ocean though. I loved living in P.E.I.

B:
Maybe next time around, eh Boo?

Me:
Yeah . . . Geez, it's hot. That's it! We're NOT retiring to Florida.

Soon we arrived at our destination - Food Basics.
